This 1952 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was acquired by the seller’s father in 1983 and was inherited by the seller in 2014. A three-year refurbishment was carried out between 2016 and 2019, with work that included rebuilding the 3.4-liter inline-six and the dual SU carburetors as well as overhauling the four-speed manual transmission and replacing clutch, braking, and suspension components. The car is finished in red over red and black leather upholstery, and additional equipment includes an aluminum radiator, 16″ wire wheels, front and rear bumperettes, a split windshield, and fender-mounted mirrors. This XK120 SE roadster is now offered with partial service records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was painted red under previous ownership, and during the refurbishment, the door locks were removed and the taillight housings were re-chromed. Details include front and rear bumperettes, driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, and a split windshield. Close-up images of cracking paint is visible.
The 16″ wire wheels feature two-eared knockoff spinners and are mounted with 6.00 Coker Classic wide whitewall tires. Braking is handled by red-finished drums at all four corners. Work during the refurbishment reportedly included replacing suspension components along with the wheel bearings, wheel cylinders, primary brake cylinder, brake shoes, and brake lines.
The seats are upholstered in black and red leather. Appointments include a black dashboard, door panels, and carpets as well as a dash-mounted rearview mirror and map pockets in both doors. Wear is visible on the seats.
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The mechanical odometer shows 22k miles, approximately 300 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
During the refurbishment, the 3.4-liter inline-six was rebuilt by Steve’s Jaguar Service of Canoga Park, California, and features an aluminum radiator and dual SU carburetors. Additional work included refinishing the exhaust manifolds, installing an electric choke, removing the heater core, rebuilding the voltage regulator, generator, carburetors, and water pump, and replacing the fuel pump, fuel sending unit, wiring harness, and fuse block.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission and rear axle were rebuilt and clutch components were replaced during the refurbishment.
The VIN listed on the current California title is F4781, which matches the body number on the underhood data plate.
