This 1952 Jaguar XK120 roadster was produced on August 21, 1952 and distributed in the US through importer Max Hoffman. The car was sold new in Pennsylvania, and the seller reports it spent time in New York and Virginia before being imported in the 1970s into Canada, where it was purchased by the current owner in 2007. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, and the car is finished in Old English White over a red leather interior. A black soft top is included, and recent maintenance included new spark plugs and ignition components. This XK120 is now offered on the current owner’s behalf with service records dating back to 1971, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, side curtains, a tonneau cover, a partially-complete tool kit, an air pump, factory literature, and clean Ontario registration.

Originally finished in Birch Grey, the car was refinished in Old English White in the 1970s. A black soft top is included in place of the stock French Grey unit, along with matching side curtains and a tonneau cover. Lucas fog lights are equipped in addition to later-model XK signal lights. Imperfections include damage to the front panel that connects the front fenders beneath the hood, paint cracks and chips, wear on the door hinge pins, and a missing spring from the driver-side air vent.

Body-color wheels wear Jaguar hubcaps and are covered out back by wheel skirts. New suspension bushings were installed up front in 2010, while the rear leaf springs were replaced in 2016. The four-wheel drum brake system received a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, and fluid in 2014.

Red leather upholstery is joined by matching door panels and carpets. The heater fan is currently inoperable.

A wood-rimmed Derrington steering wheel fronts stock instrumentation, including a fuel-level gauge that is said to work only occasionally. The five-digit odometer shows 72k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the current owner. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter twin-cam six is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Maintenance performed in May 2019 included new spark plugs, ignition wires, ignition points, a distributor cap, rotor, and condenser. The batteries were replaced in 2017, and a new heater core was installed in 2015. A period Burgess exhaust system is equipped, and the seller notes that the water pump is leaking and needs to be rebuilt.

Cylinder head stamping W5710-8 can be viewed above and matches that listed on the data plate and Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. The matching engine block stamp can be viewed in the gallery below. Oil leaks are reported by the seller

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists a build date of August 21, 1952 and US delivery. Service records dating back to 1971 are included in the sale along with a partially-complete tool kit, an air pump, factory literature, and a jack.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
