This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster was reportedly refurbished and modified for vintage racing following its acquisition around 22 years ago by the current owner, who used the car in a number of VSCCA races and driving events. Finished in silver over dark green leather upholstery, the car is powered by a replacement 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a Tremec T-5 five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a roll bar, a trunk-mounted fuel cell, polished 16″ wire wheels, a leather hood strap, and dual SU carburetors. The car is said to have been stored for the last five years, and recommissioning has reportedly included rebuilds of the clutch master cylinder and two rear wheel cylinders, as well as replacement of the brake master cylinder, battery and distributor pickup coil. This XK120 is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Ayer, Massachusetts with Connecticut registration.
The car is said to have been repainted its current shade of silver during the build. The bumpers have been removed, and exterior features include a louvered hood secured with a leather strap, headlight stone guards, Brooklands-style windscreens attached with safety wire, custom-fabricated badge bars, a front tow hook, a kill switch, an additional custom front grille, Le Mans-style fuel filler, and #466 decals on both doors. A dent is visible on the front fender.
Polished 16” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with older BFGoodrich Silvertown tires that are said to be in need of replacement. The car rides on telescopic Gaz shocks up front and Girling lever arm shocks out back. Braking is through drums at all four corners with dual Tilton master cylinders. Thee two rear wheel cylinders are said to have been rebuilt in preparation for the sale.
The cabin houses low-back bucket seats trimmed in dark green leather along with matching door panels. Equipment includes a black-finished roll bar, dash-mounted rear-view mirror, Tilton pedal box, and aluminum floor panels. The G-Force multi-point harnesses are said to be expired.
A leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel with a Jaguar center cap sits ahead of a central instrument panel housing AutoMeter and VDO instrumentation that includes an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and auxiliary displays. No odometer is present, thus total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels through a Tremec T-5 five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes an Accusump oil accumulator and Setrab oil cooler, as well as a trunk-mounted fuel cell. Maintenance in preparation for the sale reportedly included a rebuild of the clutch master cylinder along with replacement of the battery and Pertronix distributor pickup.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on Connecticut registration, which expired in 2018.
