I can provide a bit of background on this 120. I owned this car from 1985 until 2004. It was purchased from a now defunct dealer in the Tampa area called Quicksilver Motors and spent the next 19 years in St Charles and Geneva, IL.
I did not have much knowledge of 120s at the time of purchase, but it turned out that this was a very correct, matching numbers car that had been given a light cosmetic restoration (along with the usual ham handed repairs underneath). I believe the car spent time in St Petersburg, FL before my purchase. I do know there was a lot of sand in hidden places!
I used it as a tour car and showed it annually in the Chicago and Milwaukee JCNA concours where it took a couple of first places (mainly due to lack of competition). An honest judging would score the car at 85 to 90 points.
I did some mechanical restoration and then about 1995 I decided to go vintage racing. I spent a winter modifying the car for racing - roll bar, fuel cell, braided fuel and brake lines, hydraulic clutch, oil cooler, etc. I also put in an engine from a 3.4 sedan and put the matching numbers engine aside for protection. A good move as that 3.4 was in and out a half dozen times and rebuilt at least three times! I raced the car in VSCDA events in the Midwest for four or five years, while still using it on the road.
The car ran at Elkhart Lake, Blackhawk, Gratton, and IRP. It was not terribly competitive as it was running in a class with mid-fifties Corvettes and Porsche 356s, but it was fun and I received a lot of compliments on the appearance. I will post a couple of pics in race trim. One of the pics is on track at Blackhawk Raceway in June 1996.
After it sat untouched for a couple of years I decided it was time to pass the car on to someone who could enjoy it. In about 2004 I sold it to the current owner in CA. It still had the 3.4 engine from the sedan installed, but the matching numbers engine and a close ratio gearbox went with it. It broke my heart to see it go, but I can see from the pictures that it is well cared for.

Sellers description:
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia , Canada
Trans: Manual
Condition: Excellent
Exterior: light blue metallic
Interior: red
1952 Jaguar XK-120, This XK-120 was built 18 February 1952. Not much is known about the first owner who sold the car in 1964 to a man who showed it in JCNA competition and won a few awards (I have the score sheets.) The car was also photographed and has appeared in several hardcover books. It was subsequently modified for vintage racing in the 1980's and ran several events in the VSCDA in the Midwest; I have the VSCDA and HMSA log books.
It was fully restored in 2010. The car got a red interior from BAS and is painted a period correct "light blue metallic." The car was stripped to bare metal. The sills were replaced. There is no rust on the car. It currently has a 1970 e-type engine and a close-ratio gear box. The original gear box and engine come with the car. All the original parts are sitting in the garage, in boxes, many of which are tagged and labeled.

Sellers description:
This car is a beautiful representation of the classic XK-120. It has a rich documented JCNA history including several awards which will be included in the sale. It also has a racing history in both VSCDA and HMSA with log books and photos included in the sale. When the second owner was done racing her in 1984, she underwent a complete frame off restoration. She also underwent a frame on restoration in 2010 when the third owner changed the exterior color to this beautiful silver.
This is a numbers matching car. The car currently still has the1970's modified XKE racing engine in it. It drives so nice that I did not feel like putting the original engine back in. I do still have the original engine but it needs refreshing. It turns freely and is in fair condition. It is included in the sale. It has a gorgeous red BAS interior and shows very well. All the guages work accept the clock. It also has a new performance racing radiator but I kept the original radiator. It is in good working condition. I needed current technology to keep her cool in our hot Arizona climate.
Included in the sale:
All JCNA documentation
All Racing logs and historic photos. ( The car has been on the cover of several historical magazines )
Matching numbers original engine and radiator
All restoration documentation from both 1984 and 2010
Crates of original parts and spare parts never used

A bit of mis-information in a couple of the statements above, but I'm not going to quibble. See my comments above. Just want to add that the original engine was in fine shape and a strong runner when it came out of the car. The only reason it was removed was to protect it during my fling at vintage racing. I put in a 3.4 out of an early sedan in order to stay true to stock without fear of damaging the correct engine. I loved this car and I'm happy to see my 120 is still being treated so well! Wonder what happened to the pricy blue leather original style bucket seats I put in it?
