This 1951 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand drive roadster that was built on May 16, 1951, and was purchased by the seller’s father out of California as a partially-disassembled project in 2005. A refurbishment completed in 2008 included new silver paint and red upholstery, rechromed brightwork, and a 12-volt electrical conversion as well as replacement of the wiring harness, exhaust system, brakes, tires, shocks, bushings, and more. Power comes from a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car features steel wheels, a period aftermarket steering wheel, and rear spats. A new voltage regulator has been fitted, the speedometer rebuilt, and carburetor tuning performed since 2017. This XK120 is offered with spare seat foam and leather, refurbishment photos, partial service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean Washington State title in the seller’s name.
Delivered from the factory in Pastel Blue and later painted white, the body was refinished in its current silver in 2007. Various pieces of brightwork were also replaced or rechromed according to the seller, and a reproduction bonnet badge was fitted. The car features dual fender mirrors as well as full rear wheel spats. The high-beam headlights are inoperable along with the right windshield wiper
Body-colored 16″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires that were installed approximately 15 years ago. Work performed during the 2000s refurbishment is said to have included replacement of the braking system as well as the front shocks and bushings. The parking brake is difficult to engage according to the seller, who also notes that neither a soft top or spare wheel are included in the sale.
Red carpets and side panels replaced the factory Duo-Blue upholstery during the 2000s refurbishment. Replacement seats in a similar color of leather were also located, though the seller notes they may be from an incorrect model year and were installed without using the factory mounting points. The heater has not been tested under the seller’s ownership.
A Derrington-style steering wheel sits ahead of a leather-trimmed dashboard housing black Smiths instruments. The speedometer was rebuilt in the last three years and houses a five-digit odometer showing 54k miles, 500 of which have been added by the seller in 14 years. Total mileage is unknown. The fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and clock are inoperable. A 12-volt electrical conversion was carried out during the 2000s work in addition to replacement of the wiring harness and modification of the battery box.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features polished cam covers and SU carburetor bells, and was rated at 160 horsepower when new. A new voltage regulator was installed and the carburetors tuned since 2017. The engine wears a replacement cylinder head, and a reproduction chassis tag in the engine bay is stamped to match. Engine block stamping W-3298-8 matches the Heritage Certificate.
