New to 23 year-old Phil Hill in Coventry. Winning car inaugural Pebble Beach Road Race 1950. First US race win for Jaguar. First important win for Hill. This was the start of all of today’s Monterey/Pebble Beach car events.

To clarify the two above comments by Pauls, Phil Hill raced 670138 to a second place finish in a shorter, preliminary race at Pebble Beach on November 5, 1950. It was during this race that he shattered his clutch. Despite this, he then took 670138 to a decisive overall victory in the main event, though he started from behind, had no use of his clutch, and not a whole lot of brakes by the end either. He later called this his first important win. More info can be found in the November 1998 issue of Road and Track, and the December 2006 issue as well.
