670128 was supplied by Charles Hornburg in 1950 and is understood to have raced extensively in the Costa Mesa and San Joaquin Valley areas of southern California. In the 1980s the car was purchased by Derek Eastwood still in California, and sold to a British enthusiast and Jaguar collector who entrusted the car to John Mays XK developments who carried out a comprehensive restoration to the highest standards, including stripping the car back to the chassis frame, and rebuilding the body structure, as well as rebuilding the mechanical components. The car was finished in its original colour scheme of grey with red trim, complimented by red wire wheels.

The restoration saw the car prepared to road race specification, and its competition career has continued, with outings in the HGPCA drumbraked sportscar series as well as several rounds of the Gentleman Drivers series. Throughout these races the car has proven to be extremely reliable, and has continued to be enjoyed on the road where the cars legendary combination of power and stunning looks can be enjoyed to the full.

Offered with FIA and VSCC papers as well as a UK V5 and an extensive photographic record of the restoration, this remains a most usable example of the highly desirable and earliest model in one of the most successful line of British post war sportscars. The ideal car for the sporting Gentleman Driver.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
