As Listed on eBay - September 2005

Prototype Alloy XK 120 Number 009. Chassis No. 670009. Body No. F1011 - Cream. This is one of the first 10 Alloy Prototypes built by Jaguar. Sent to France and to the 1949 Paris Auto Show. The French Dealer Delecroix used this car for testing, and it was driven by all the actors in order to sell them an XK 120. Engine, close ratio gearbox, exhaust, and gas tank have been rebuilt. French papers. Car located in Belgium

It would nice to know who anonymous is. This car has all the history going back to Delecroix. The 2nd owner in the Rhone in France had the car for 30 years, and despite his not driving it for 15 of those years, the car has remained extremely original. We are in the process of stripping it at the moment, and if 'anonymous' wishes to contact me I would be happy th show him the car and documentation.

I am puzzled.
Various sources quote that the parts book states that the first 18 RHD cars and the first 26 LHD cars had the straight-sided windscreen with the three-screw fixing. But on all such cars still extant, only 670001 has this feature. And here is 670009 at the Paris Motor Show wearing a curved 'screen.
Does anyone know the answer?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
