For auction at Shannon's, Sydney, 20 Feb 12.
- 1954 Sydney Motor Show car
- Believed 1 of 14 XK120 FHC sold new in Australia
- Older restoration

Purchased by the vendor from us in 2005, this lovely XK120 Fixed-Head Coupe is the actual car used for display at the 1954 Sydney Motor Show. Sold new by Bryson Industries, Ltd to Reliance trading on 23 August 1954 it is believed to be one of 14 XK120 FHC sold new in Australia and is number 177 of 194 built in RHD form. Restored in 1990, the original cream with red trim was replaced in the current Bordeaux red (a Jaguar colour) with cream leather and walnut dash. The original Moss gearbox remains in the car, while the engine is a later S-Type unit fitted with correct XK120 ancillaries including oil filter, sump starter and generator. The original unrestored XK120 cylinder head also comes with the vehicle. This XK presents a rare opportunity to purchase an important piece of Jaguar's early Australian history.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
