On offer here is a right-hand drive XK in user-friendly drophead coupe form, originally built at Browns Lane in 1954, which last changed hands in 2000 and has only had four former keepers. The vendor tells us that the 3442x 6-cylinder motor, which has been fitted with a C Type spec cylinder head, is in excellent order and the 4-speed manual transmission very good. The electrics are all functioning well, he says, and bodywork and ivory paint as well as red interior are all reportedly very good too. The history file contains excellent service history with condition reports and an original green log book.. The 77,105 miles displayed when entered for the sale is believed to be the genuine total mileage from new.
Please Note: This vehicle is MOT'd until May 2004.

Car returned to auction 8/07
www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/586654995/

Auction description:
The car was purchased by the vendor from classic dealer Hendon Way Motors in April 2004 and since then has benefited from expenditure of some 10,000. Works undertaken include replacing the rear axle, installing a BMW gearbox and clutch, fitting an electric radiator fan, and re-plating assorted brightwork, the engine already having been rebuilt (in 1993) by G Roberts, of Finchley (invoices and photographic record available). While in the current ownership URB 740 has been kept garaged and used regularly in fine weather, and is offered for sale only because the vendors business commitments will limit the opportunities for driving it in the future. The car comes with Jaguar/Daimler heritage certificate, sundry invoices, current MoT certificate and Swansea V5 registration document.

Ebay item 3/21

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-XK120-DHC-RHD/233917801283

Opening bid £55,000, no reserve, no bids 1 day left in auction seller alexm9493, car now said to be in Bexley, United Kingdom.

Seller's description:

Here I have for auction a fantastic opportunity to acquire a Jaguar XK120 DHC RHD, chassis number 667186, which was originally supplied on the 21st  January 1954 by Chesterfields in Hatfield. The car originally had suede green exterior paint and a suede green interior. It was registered under number URB 470 which is still retains today.

I stripped the vehicle about five years ago for a full nut and bolt restoration. The engine bay and chassis was soda blasted, removing all traces of grease, grime and surface rust etc and the body preparation has virtually been completed, needing just 3 to 4 days to get her ready for final paint. Due to business commitments I sadly do not have the time to continue with this project.

It comes to a fantastic history folder as you can see from the images all kept in an organised A4 ring binder and is bulging with old receipts, MOT is, tax discs etc etc. It has the original matching number engine with a genuine factory C type head (un-stamped) which is connected to a five speed gearbox (upgraded approximately 15 years ago).

This car has had thousands of pounds already spent on it. While stripping her all removed parts were placed in storage boxes and are obviously all included within the sale. This is a fairly easy project for somebody to continue with. This type of vehicle is becoming increasingly rare, being a genuine UK right hand drive car of which only 295 were originally made.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
