This vehicle has been written about by Jim Patten in Jaguar World October 2015 edition. Jim describes it as the best car he has ever driven.
Lot of peculiarities with the car, solid rear boxing which is believed to have been used for a 5th Wheel for testing.
When the car was sold in the very early 60's the dealer informed the purchaser after the purchase, it had been raced, used by Dunlop.
Though it is unconfirmed the owner is looking for details about it, if anyone know any history of the car.
Photos are on the owners website
www.xkclassics.uk

if you know any history he would love more info.

When i purchased this car in 2009 from the previous owner who had owned the car since 1966 and paid £100 for the car

After he had paid for the car, the previous owner made some throwaway remarks that the car was used as an experimental car testing Dunlop Brakes and it had been used for racing. baring in mind at this time any car that had any racing was to be avoided, but of course it's very different today.

Given all the original speed equipment that is on the car which would support this view, Car has Original C Type Head it's not designated an SE but is matching numbers, also has tappet settings on data plate at race spec,

Other Features on the car are High ratio Diff with LSD, Close Ratio Gear Box, unusual rear bumper infill's,

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
