This car was supplied to Ian Appleyard, the famous Jaguar rally driver who originally rallied NUB 120. He and his wife/co-driver Pat drove RUB 120 in the 1953 Alpine Trial, achieving a class win. Later in 1953 the car was fitted with a DHC body modified with rear seats to satisfy the entry requirements for the Norwegian Viking Rally, although Ian and Pat Appleyard in the end chose to enter a Jaguar MkVII. Following a successful rally career with the Appleyards the car was sold and rallied by Denis Scott. It was eventually broken up, although the body may survive

Text and photo from Julie Rawcliffe. She writes:
“My Grandfather, who was a dentist in Burnley Lancashire, purchased the car when nearly new from Appleyard’s at Leeds, the owner was married to Lyons daughter MD of Jag. Now my father would love to see the car again, as he has plenty of childhood memories of the car, and some great history, when supplied to Appleyard’s new the car was white. Appleyard’s then put a new body on it and sprayed it British racing Green. We now believe the car is back to its original colour white. Can anyone help us track the present owner?
My father has told me that the reason for the body change when new, is that Appleyard wanted to rally the car, and at the time the 2+2 was not made, so they converted this one to enter a particular class, and that’s when it went from white to BRG, we now believe the car is back to white.
