Partial history known - Was UK new & restored many years ago there in red. Sold to Japan & deteriorated badly, and was bought into New Zealand as a restoration project. Restered 2011 -2013 and little used since. All fittings are either original or correct for build date.

Good usable car.

Listed for sale as at Sept 2020 please contact if interested.

Seller's description:

For sale from Autofocus, in South Island, New Zealand

We are proud to present this early XK120 for sale on behalf of the owner, who due to circumstances sadly must pass it on to its next carer.

Owned for many years, this car was restored in the UK prior to his ownership, however the restoration had not held up well & was sold as a restoration project.

The car was received November 2008 as a open cheque book recommission / restoration & colour change.

We conducted a body off full bare metal restoration of the body, and checked alignment, stripped & repainted the chassis.

The mechanicals were all inspected & reconditioned where appropriate, plus identification of all components to ensure it was either original to the car and corect for date of manufacture.

The motor was stripped to the block & rebuilt as appropriate.

It was then accepted by the VCC identification program before registering Fec 2011.

Since then it has been in dry storage & only occasionally used by its owner that worked iternationally & stayed infrequently in Nelson.

The car presents well throughout, The interior was refitted as still extremely tidy with some minor fading only, and is possibly original, certainly done as per original materials & patterns correct for the car. A Motolite 4 spoke steering wheel completes the package.

Hood & wet weather equipment in authentic materials are in good condition

We have changed oil & filter, cleaned out the fuel system including the tank & carburettors, replaced fuel pump & spark plugs & inspected & reconditioned the brakes as required - primarily wheel cylinders were required & a bleed through with fresh brake fluid.

The car starts runs & drives well, with plenty of smooth power.

It now has a new Wof & registration & will be available for your inspection by appointment as it will be stored offsite.

Mileage: 70,043

Year: 1951

Transmission type: Manual

Colour: Black

Engine size (Litres): 3.4

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
