Raced intensive & very succesfully until the 80's with a 3.8L engine by David Preece.
Purchased by me end 90's and now under preperation for racing again.
All basics converted back to original 120 spec but still with quick removable alloy body and now fitted with 344 BHP 3.4L TJR engine & all synchro gearbox.

As a youth I worked at the Jaguar specialist Oldham and Crowther who prepared WPU 207 for David Preece, and subsequently other drivers to race. I'd be very intersted to hear how you bought it, who from and what specification it was purchased in. It was raced on both wire spoke wheels and bolt on wheels (different front wings to match the wheel size).

Hi Daniel, I bought the car approximate 14 years ago through a UK company from Oldham & Crowter Family who are leaving in France.
When I received it the colour be white with o.e.w. wire wheels and came with the original engine still at the 58 mm DCO weber carbs and I have use it 3 times at the track in the Netherlands before I started the restauration.
I have a busy company what keeps me 7 days a week working and the XK is one of my personal cars and not yet found the time to finish the work but it will come back at the track one day and much quicker as it ever been before.
Best Tom.

My Dad was advising O & C at the time on their engine spec. He put on the 58mm Webers, manifold and jetted and set up the carbs. Also IIRC ( I was a very keen teenager at the time), sold them the original W/A D-type valves for the head,I remember Ruth and Martin visiting our home and telling Dad how well the car went, so much power, and what a great idea it was of his, Dad had to remind him who's idea it was, he actually blushed for a second!! I imagine he had been claiming credit in the bar!

Should add I might have the correspondence somewhere!

At the time WPU207 had the 58mm Webers fitted the cylinder head valves were considerably larger than those of any D type. They were also larger than anyone else's racing valves which themselves were larger than those of any D-type. The really interesting part about the engine were the cams.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
