Car was listed for sale at:

www.docsjags.com/sales/xks/xks_120s/100-1054/100-1054.html

Ad text reads:

1950 XK 120 #660136 vin number, Rare, early right hand drive and fiftieth steel bodied,, of ONLY 87 RIGHT HANDS EVER MADE. 9350 miles, believed to be original after checking original paperwork, which goes back to day one. Shows only 8,700 miles in 1978. This Jaguar has a British Motor Department Certificate of certification and authenticity as well as one from a British Inspection Station, Certificate of inspection , certifying and authenticating the mileage as original in 1978. All original paperwork comes with this car as well as THE ORIGINAL TITLE (registration book) SHOWING ALL PREVIOUS OWNERS AND WHEN THEY SOLD AND ACQUIRED HER. Paperwork also includes service work and all restoration time receipts and funds spent. Last owner bought car in 1980 and spent nearly $30,000 U.S dollars acquiring her. Figure that out in today's dollars, and you come up to a much higher figure than we are asking. Compute in the additional investment value of this rare, low mileage, right hand drive, fully restored, matching numbered beauty, and wonder why the price is so low. Frankly, if she doesn't sell in 30 days, THE PRICE WILL GO UP. since by then I will have gotten better acquainted with her and will have made her another one of my steel mistresses. Additionally, it will have sunk in that this is probably the lowest original mile right hand 120 in existence. She is in show and extremely reliable driving condition. We intend to add Yellow Fog (driving) Lites and a leather Bonnett belt. do you think we should add a dual stainless exhaust or leave her original?

Price: $64,500 or 38,000 pounds

Why is it described as “...[one] of only 87 RIGHT HANDS EVER MADE...”, when more than 1,000 RHD XK120 roadsters were made after this one ?

Also, there are many cosmetic mistakes.

And whoever fitted that black steering wheel, no matter that it has now gone? Oh. Dear. Me.

Jeremy B.What mistakes are you talking about? The black steering wheel was installed by an American previous owner because it was smaller than the original steering wheel.

The original steering wheel in white has long been reinstalled.

Perhaps I have been a little bit rude. Apologies.

I don’t regard the seats as ‘cosmetic mistakes’, although there are rather too many fasteners and the interior mirror is wrong.

But what is a genuine, widespread, mistake is that the rear wing beading should be body colour, as should the ‘background’ of the hubcaps.

I like the white steering wheel - always wanted one for 670503, but couldn’t find one then.

Car now offered at:

vandp.net/sales/1932/1950-jaguar-xk120-ots-rhd/

Selle's description:

1950 XK120 OTS RHD

Chassis no: 660136

Registration: TBA.

Price: £125,000

An unusual car in that it was supplied new to the far east Via Brinkman of Singapore & Malaya dispatched from the factory in August of 1950. It was shipped to California in 2002 & repainted in old English White with a burgundy leather interior. Both are in excellent condition. At the time of it arriving in California the car had covered a scant 11,799 miles from new & is now showing just 19,000 miles from new. The car as a whole has a tight taut feel to it with an incredubly crisp engine in perfect runniing order offering really surprising performance along with a sonorous exhaust note.

The car was then purchased by the last German owner who bought it to add it to his collection on account of the very very low miles the car had covered. Side screens for the car are found in a custom made envlope in the boot. Assorted bills come with the car from his tenure where it has clearly been maintained without regard to cost. A brand new split tonneau cover also comes with the car.

This is a very useable car with a light patina of use to the leather & door cards etc.. It has comfortable bucket seats fitted allowing for taller drivers such as myslef at 6ft 3: to fit into it. The original seats have been retained & come with the car. A full black hood is fitted along with spats to cover the orginal pressed steel wheels & a leather bonnet strap. A plaque from Jaguar on the dash board attests to this car being identical to the record breaking car that achieved 132,6 MPH on the Jabbeke straight in Belgium in period.

This car really is a time warp & has a wonderful original feel to it compared to those that have been nut & bolt restored. It has to be driven to be appreciated.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
