This early steel bodied example is, we undertand, the second oldest in existence and an original right hand drive model. It was purchased in 1991 by the son of the late Anne Hall, the highly successful works rally driver for Jaguar, Sunbeam, Ford and Mercedes.
The XK had been languishing in a barn for some twenty years covered in potato dust on a farm in Wiltshire. Purchased by Anne Hall and son as a joint project, what followed was a full photographic nut and bolt restoration to concours standard. Mike Chenery of Billinghurst Engineering carried out all aspects of the mechanical restoration over four thousand hours. The body-off restoration, completed by Stuart Metrick of Downton Bodyworks, cost some £40,000. All of the upholstery, trim, carpets and weather equipment has been replaced to an exceptional standard to the original specification of Biscuit.
Originally intended to be used as a family run-about, the stunning XK was deemed to be too precious when completed and on the road, so as a result, the motor car was mothballed and only brought out for special occasions.
With some 200 miles since the meticulous restoration, this important Jaguar is now available and is supplied with the aforementioned photographs, the V5C registration document, the current MOT test certificate which expires 24.8.2010, other papers and the tax exempt road fund licence which is valid until 31.8.2010.

Body F 1385 G/box JL 33407CR UK reg USU 789 Described as “the 2nd oldest steel 120 in existence” I think that claim a little optimistic as I have notes on 10 earlier RHD steel cars but even being the eleventh oldest still makes it hugely collectable.

Our XK120 #660097 has the seat backs of an alloy OTS with the squared recesses for the soft top scissors. I am really unsure if they are a modification made by the first owner, because the interior colour changed also in the cars early years.
For this reason would it eventually be possible to send me or post a backside picture of the seat backs from #660096 with the hinges and the recesses visible?
