At Waterloo on the 13th April 1953 he recorded 210.772kph for the flying kilometre (130.967649) this was with high lift cams lightened flywheel.
He was preparing for another run in late 1953 and is noted to have shave 5mm of the head! and lightened the conrods.
In October 1953 he recorded about 154 mph whilst dewis did speeds of between 168.539 mph and 173.159mph in various configurations of the Jabekke car
