    For those interested this car is currently advertised on EBAY 121201689934 along with 1940 SS Saloon and a MKVDHC.
    The Alloy XK120 was stolen in October 1952.
    The car was founded where it had been dumped in a rain forest 34 years earlier some 2000 miles from where it had been stolen. The rain forest conditions had attacked the steel components and it was very very rusty.
    The chassis was so bad a new chassis has been fabricated using some bits from a MKV chassis.
    This was the same alloy 120 offered on EBAY back in early 2003 with a starting price of $1 ! but was withdrawn before auction finished as from memory no-one had bid on it.

    SS Jaguar
    The SS Jaguar 2.5 litre Saloon has been in our family circa 1972, was previously owned by a kangaroo shooter from outback South Australia, where the car was delivered. It is very original, has many rare parts. It has been confirmed by Jaguar Heritage that there were only 135 cars 1940, 2 1/2 litre models made and they know of 7 apart from this car.

    The car has had the body professionally repaired and painted in the original olive green. It has had the trim rechromed, and the timber reveneered where required. The motor is disassembled, the gearbox is in one piece, not sure of it's condition, same with the differential.

    MKV DHC
    The MKV DHC, the body has been professionally repaired and painted. The hood bows appear to be all there. The motor is possibly rebuilt. Interior is basically missing, has dash and seats.

    Aluminium bodied XK120
    The XK is in a dire state, was found in the bush about 20 years ago.
    It is very rusty, only the alloy body is in good condition. It has the
    original motor and gearbox, confirmed by Jaguar, and has "special" Australian made finned wheels. The car is 99% complete. The chassis has been restored, not the original, it was very rusty, it is now as new. All the major and most minor steel components are there, just very rusty, so can be used as patterns. Door and bonnet hinges in excellent condition. Seat frames are there, patterns only. No timber exists with the car, all rotted away. The alloy body panels, all there, are in excellent condition for age, some minor repairs will be needed but that's all. The mechanical components are all there, very little use from new, so should be in good repair. Windscreen side posts, and chrome pieces are in good condition, and will be able to be reused. The dash is complete, but in need of restoration.

    Components :
    Firewall rebuilt Inner front guards, fuel tank, spare wheel well, battery carriers and rear inner guards all rusted but 95% there, ideal for patterns

    All suspension components and steering column all there, in usable condition

    Generator, starter and gauges all for restoration

    Radiator in good condition

    Aluminium body all in very good original condition, will need small repairs to boot lid

    Hood bows are rusty, but good for patterns, includes mounting brackets

    Screen pillars and grille are in good condition

    All organic materials are gone.

    There are numerous spare parts that will go with the vehicles, body panels, P100 headlights, motor parts, gearbox parts, steering columns, dash and gauges, almost everything seen in the photographs will be included in the sale, including some MK 11 and XJ6 parts that were collected by my father. Three sheds worth !

    The car was listed on EBAY with a starting price of $175,000 AUD but a couple of days ago it was changed to a starting price of $1.00 AUD and yesterday afternoon it had bid to about $50,000 AUD with 1 day 15 hours to go this morning its no longer for sale.

    thank goodness this car has now been sold to a Western Australian enthusiast and I was fortunate to be involved in the packing up of this car for shipment from Qld to WA.
    Having seen the car several times over a 20 year period one thing I had never looked at was the speedo reading and it was the first thing that the new owner and myself simultaneously thought of looking at when we arrived to pick the car up - the reading 3,705 miles 2nd lowest mileage of any Alloy XK120.
    It was quite amazing to find just how original the car is and even various parts of the tool kit were still there.
    Given its history and condition It is proving to be a major source of information on originality with all the stampings on bottom of springs etc and one very interesting item is that the radiator has the hole for the crank handle and the bonnet catch plate in front has the holes for the bracket for crank handle but of course the SPC catalog and all the known info says that only cars up to 660028 had the crank handle so it would appear that whilst the crank handle was no longer provided, the factory still had a few more radiators to use.
    The first big job is sourcing a new timber frame or the manufacture of one.

    Wear indicators in brake and clutch parts will give you a better idea.
    Wood parts too expensive in UK so I am seeking an alternative too for #670088.

    The car was sold new on the 16th june 1950 and stolen in october 1952 a period of 27 months and to have done 3,814 miles per month - unlikely given first owner was quite wealthly and would have used the car only occasionally. He did replace it with a steel bodied car 660214 in mid 1951
    I must admit the mileage does seem ridiculously low. The possible case is that after it was stolen it was continued to be driven around for up to say 8 years to get to 103,000 miles and whilst it might have been more possible to register a car in another state of Australia back then the states did send out lists of stolen cars to the rego authorities in the other states.
    So I have not discounted this happening

Assuming Bib Stilwell was the original owner and the car was stolen in 52, how was it replaced in 51? Is there more to learn about this car?

    First owner 16th June 1950 Busch Electric Co PL. in real terms O. D. (Don) Busch.
    Busch raced it at Rob Roy Hillclimb and Ballarat races nov 1950 and the Alpine rally in December 1950.
    By 21st December 1950 when road tested by the Melbourne Age it had the Don Busch made Turbo vent wheels of which he made about 10 sets.
    He also raced it in a trial in march 1951 which he won and hillclimbed it at Mt Tarrangower.
    He upgraded to steel bodied car and more importantly and unusual for Australia an 8-1 jabekke replica car 660214 on the 21st July 1951 which was first owned by BS Stillwell & Co who were probably suedo Jaguar agents in real terms it was for the son of the owner Bib Stillwell and was first registered 28 feb 1951. Bib Stillwell had been the previous owner of another car the 7-1 compression 660165 which he had sold the month he got 660214. Stillwell raced 660214 also fitted with Busch Turbo Vent wheels at Mt Tarrangower in march 1951 and at Rob Roy in may 1951.
    Busch competed in 660214 at Ballarat in nov 1951.
    So Busch having got his new car 660214 would have put 660034 up for sale and whilst hard to believe when purchased by the new owner from a Brighton Car Yard in 1952 it was already Dk Green! Actually its not that hard to believe as some of the original metallic paint colours in this case Pastel Blue metallic needed respraying on their arrival in Australia and documentation regarding this aspect exists relating to another alloy XK120.
    Certainly I will be keeping a very close eye on the restoration and will be looking very carefully at wear on pistons, bores, crank etc etc as it may be the case that after being stolen it was driven around for 100,000 km's! or maybe that just the speedo died at 3,705 miles!
