This car featured in an article in "Thoroughbred & Classic Car" magazine November 1990. Then it had been recently re-imported from Australia. It was said to be the Melbourne Motor Show car having been shipped to Australia on 24 November 1949. Also it was said to have been racing in 1955-57 but was then stored from 1961 to 1990. Colour photos in the article show it as a shade of white with red interior.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
