Car to be at auction 11/13
www.classic-carauction.com/showroom_details.cfm

Auction description:
THIS VEHICLE WILL BE SELLING NO RESERVE IN OUR NOVEMBER 2013 EVENT *** In 1997 our consignor purchased this 1957 Jaguar XK140 from the original owner. The car was ordered new with automatic transmission for the use of the buyer's wife. The wife used the car only locally as a shopping car until 1963 when someone hit the right-hand fender in a parking lot. At that time, the actual mileage was 5,430. The fender was poorly repaired using bondo and from then on in was parked in storage until my purchase. I decided to undertake a total restoration on the very low mileage vehicle. This restoration took 6 years. I then drove the car approximately 1,000 miles until having a stroke, which stopped my driving. The car, once more, was placed in storage. I moved to Palm Springs, California and had the car trucked to my new home. The car now has only 6,568 original miles.

Ebay item 12/20/13
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XK-RARE-140-MC-HIGH-PREFORMANCE-COUPE-STUNNING-1957-jagu ...
Opening bid $97,770 reserve not met, no bids 9 days left in auction. Car now in St. Louis, Missouri, seller Daniel Schmitt & Co.

Sellers description:
Presenting what is perhaps the lowest mileage 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC Coupe on the planet. This magnificent automobile has just 6,586 documented miles and just over 1,000 miles since a complete service and cosmetic freshening. Finished in highly desirable Carmen red with supple black leather interior, this 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC Coupe has the luxury and looks to match its performance. Being factory equipped with the desirable C-type competition cylinder head, twin-cam 3.4 liter inline 6-cylinder making 220-horsepower makes this car very desirable by itself, but the fact that the MC performance package is mated with the automatic transmission makes this a true rarity; one worthy of the attention of any serious collector. The MC package also includes the gorgeous wire wheels, as well as the full stainless dual exhaust. This car is ready to enter the next concours d'elegance. All equipment is authenticated the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, and the mileage is backed by an affidavit signed by the previous owner. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire one of the most beautiful Jaguar XK140 MC Coupes we have ever had the pleasure of offering, but also one of the rarest given its unique equipment and low original mileage.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
