1956 Jaguar XK140 coupe that is a nice weekend driver. The car is silver with red interior, very appealing color combination. The paint is shiny and interior is presentable. The car has a very desirable manual transmission with a working overdrive. It's a California car with a solid undercarriage. A good running and driving XK140 for $47,500.

Over a three-year span from 2019 through 2021, this XK140 was the subject of a detailed restoration and upgrade to “Fast Road” specification by Jaguar Specialists Brightwell Motor Company and Woodham Mortimer, with the goal of entering the car in numerous historic rally events throughout Continental Europe. This work, chronicled in a restoration summary on file, included rebuilding and upgrading a replacement inline six-cylinder engine to produce an impressive 245 hp, fitting a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox, fabricating and installing aluminum doors and Le Mans-style air vents to the front wings, and refinishing the car in its original and attractive color combination of Pearl Grey over a red interior.

Following the completion of its restoration, the consignor entered the Jaguar in numerous rally events from 2022 through 2025, including the Coppa Milano-Sanremo, 1000 Miglia, Bernina Gran Turismo, Gran Premio Nuvolari, 1000 Miglia Experience UAE, Targa Florio, Coppa delle Alpi, and Modena Cento Ore. According to the consignor, the cost to restore and prepare the Jaguar for these rallies totaled over €300,000.

This highly competitive and endlessly eligible vintage Jaguar coupe presents collectors and driving enthusiasts alike with an attractive entry point into premier vintage rally events worldwide.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
