Built 17th December 1953 and registered 6th Jan. '54 this exceptional Jaguar XK120 was dispatched to distributors Hornburg in Los Angeles, USA. A 'black plate' California car it was exported to Sweden in 2001 and later underwent a comprehensive 'body off' restoration by Competition Motors,(Alunda, Sweden). Full details of this work and many photos accompany the car which totaled many hours. Built to fast road spec. it is fitted with a genuine C Type cylinder head, five speed Guy Broad gearbox and disc brakes all round, the engine block is still the original and the car is supplied with the original windscreen surround and hood frame, side screens as well as some assorted spare and original parts.
Finished in opalescent light blue with a dark red interior the work to the car was only recently completed before the car was sent here to the UK. Now undergoing shake down miles through our own workshop the car has been re registered in the UK. A stunning and beautifully restored example.

Car to be at auction 2/19

rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa19/paris/lots/r0058-1953-jaguar-xk-120-se-roadster/ ...

Lot Number 157

1953 Jaguar XK 120 SE Roadster

RM | Sotheby's - PARIS 2019

Chassis No. S 674489

Engine No. F 1393-8

Body No. F 6739

Prepared to fast road specification with C-Type cylinder head

Eligible for numerous national and international events

Retains its original engine block and body

This car, chassis S674489, was delivered in left-hand-drive configuration to the U.S. via Jaguar’s New York distributor, Charles Hornberg, in the highly attractive colour scheme of Lavender Grey over red.

By the 1990s the car had returned to Europe and was fully restored in Sweden; at this time the current colour combination of light metallic blue over dark red leather was applied. The car has been well restored to fast road specification with an original XK 140 high-compression C-Type cylinder head, five-speed gearbox and aero screens. Importantly, this XK 120 retains its matching engine block and body. Following the restoration, this XK 120 featured in a magazine article in the Swedish classic motoring magazine Nostalgia whilst in the ownership of Mr Helenius.

The XK 120 remains a superb sports car to this day and, more importantly, highly usable and eligible in a whole host of interesting events, this example being no exception to this and very well prepared.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
