This Jaguar XK120 OTS - for Open two-seater - was produced on November 24, 1952 before being sold on November 27, 1952 by the Hornburg dealership in Los Angeles. His birth certificate we

indicates a chassis number 673217, an engine number W 6692-8 attached to a gearbox number JL 14096 and a body number F 5262, numbers and letters that the Jaguar still carries today. Its first owner John Duff, was possibly one of the Bentley Boys who won Le Mans in 1924. This hypothesis could be confirmed knowing that the latter, born in Canada in 1895, ended his life in the 1950s as a stuntman consultant in Hollywood.

Crane Kirkbride acquired the car in 1956 from John Duff when her father was a writer and screenwriter in Hollywood, also a Canadian by birth. Crane was then in the army, he drove her from Santa Barbara to Fort Ord, his military base where the car caused a sensation. After leaving the army in 1957, he took her by road to San Francisco, taking more than 100mph at the wheel of the roadster.

Alan Sundstrom then bought the car in San Francisco in 1959. The Jaguar was then registered 1611 El Cu in Santa Barbara. First registered to his mother who financed the Jaguar. He only puts it in his own name once the car has been reimbursed. In order to ride with the beautiful English car, he equipped it with a 12-volt battery and a pressure gauge on the dashboard. He was then attending the University of Berkeley and parked the car in the street, that's when the car suffered a scratch on the left front wing, a scratch still visible today! In 1962, the car broke down due to a defective valve and was shut down....

It was only in 2013 that the Jaguar left Alan Sundstrom's garage to fly to Europe. It is therefore acquired in 2014 by its current owner. The Jaguar was then in the same strict state as it was when it was stopped in 1962. He therefore began to preserve his patina, while offering him a second mechanical youth. The SU carburettors were then refurbished, as were the starter, dynamo, distributor, etc. The engine was also rebuilt with new Vanderwell bushings, a re-machined crankshaft at 0.10, new pistons and rings at 0.40, and a spinnaker seal installed behind the crankshaft. The engine seals were of course replaced, as was the clutch and its mechanism. The distribution was redone and a hydraulic chain tensioner - type XK140 - was installed. The radiator beam was replaced, as well as the water pipes and thermostat - as a new period piece -. The coil was also replaced for a new period part, the ignition wire harness was also replaced and the exhaust system changed for a stainless steel line. The braking system has been refurbished. Finally, the running gears were overhauled with Michelin tires and new suspensions.

Today, the car retains all its original numbers, its Birch Grey paint is largely original; its Biscuit and Red interior is strictly in its original condition, as is its French Grey hood. To prevent further damage to the original foundations, the owner installed other red foundations on his exits. A pair of aero-screens, one of which was installed on the driver's side and the original windscreen kept with the sides screens. A leather strap was attached to keep the aluminium cover closed. All the parts replaced when the car was restarted were even kept! The detail is pushed to the original carpets still visible under the carpets, the spare tire with its Dunlop white sidewall tire, its jack, its keys etc. are present. Even most of the Lucas equipment is from 1952! We also have a large file of photos showing the restart of the car and invoices for an amount of nearly €10,000.

It is therefore one of the most interesting Jaguar XK120s available today, with a rare authenticity, a clear history and ready to hit the road!
