Lot #223671
This 1951 Jaguar XK120 roadster was acquired by the current owner’s grandfather in 1998, and work in preparation for the sale is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors, servicing the fuel system, and replacing the valve cover gasket, brake components, fuel tank, and batteries. The car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in red over black leather. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a split front windshield, chrome bumpers and bumperettes, a leather hood strap, chrome 16” wire wheels with knock-off hubs, burl wood trim, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with side curtains, a tonneau cover, and a Michigan title.
The car is finished in red and was repainted under prior ownership. Exterior equipment includes a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, a leather hood strap, chrome rear bumperettes, and a polished exhaust outlet. The car is not equipped with a soft top or frame, though side curtains accompany the vehicle along with a tonneau cover. There is a dent at the bottom of the right front fender along with paint chips on the driver’s door and passenger-side rear quarter panel. The windshield wipers are inoperative and the hood strap is worn.
Chrome 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with older Commander whitewall tires measuring 6.00 x 16″. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with telescopic-type hydraulic shock absorbers as well as semi-elliptical rear leaf springs and Girling hydraulic rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums. The brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder were replaced in October 2025.
The cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in black leather with red piping complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include burl wood trim, lap belts, a passenger-side grab handle, door map pockets, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The wood-rimmed four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 141 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors and a replacement cylinder head. Work in preparation for the sale is said to have involved rebuilding the carburetors, installing a replacement aluminum fuel tank, servicing the fuel system, changing the fluids, and replacing the valve cover gasket and batteries.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Various fluid leaks are noted.
The Michigan title is listed as a duplicate.
